Course Policies

This program does not include English Language Learning (ELL) instruction. If English language skills make meaning unclear, helpful feedback may not be possible. If you are unsure whether you are ready, please email a sample of your writing, and we are happy to assist you.

Registration

Schedule

Dates and times are as published on the website and in the welcome email. Holiday changes are noted.

Payment

A non-refundable deposit of 50% is due upon registration. The balance is due before the first lesson.

Bursaries

There are a limited number of privately funded bursaries for demonstrated financial need: the Aspire Bursary (25% off) and the Pathway Bursary (50% off). Inquire at SDJ_learnmore@outlook.ca. References required.

Refunds

There are no refunds after the second lesson.

Course minimum

Courses with fewer than three students may be rescheduled or canceled with a full refund.

Instructor Cancellation

In the rare event that a lesson is canceled by the instructor, it will be rescheduled or a prorated refund will be provided.

Enrolment

Attendance

Students who miss up to two lessons may choose one of the following make-up options:

1. Attend another seminar. See the schedule. Request within 24 hours. Seminar lessons may differ in content and difficulty.

2. Upgrade to a private lesson. Request within 24 hours and pay only the difference in tuition. Subject to availability.

Withdrawal

Students withdrawing for extenuating circumstances may discuss support, a prorated refund, or deferral to a future course, if available.

Late Arrivals

Lessons begin and end promptly at the scheduled time. Late arrivals do not extend the lesson time.

Learning

Accommodations

Ms. Johnsey welcomes students with diverse learning needs. Please email or book a consultation.

Behaviour

Courtesy is expected for all people at all times. Ms. Johnsey values solution-focused appointments for any concerns.

Accountability

After each lesson, students and the individual paying tuition receive the lesson overview and homework assignment by email.

Incomplete Homework

If homework is incomplete, the individual paying tuition will be notified by email.

Academic Honesty

Work ethic and honesty are foundational to a student’s success and are expected.

AI Policy

Students may use online tools, including AI, to clarify concepts or generate examples. AI-generated writing may not be copied, paraphrased, or submitted as the student's own work.

Commitment

Students who consistently choose not to participate or who engage in academic dishonesty may be dismissed from the course without refund.

Resources

Technology

Students are responsible for a laptop or tablet (no phones) with reliable internet access and sufficient battery power. Ms. Johnsey cannot assist with technical issues.

A Zoom link will be sent in the welcome email after enrolment.

Materials

Materials will be provided digitally by Ms. Johnsey. Students may print, or choose to purchase, printed materials.

Recording

Lessons may not be audio or video recorded without prior permission.
